Description
We are seeking three (3) experienced FOIA Specialists to support the Executive Office of the President — specifically the Council on Environmental Quality. This is a high-impact federal opportunity supporting Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) operations, including work tied to policy, interagency coordination, and litigation support.

Key Responsibilities

FOIA Processing & Case Management
  • Review and process FOIA requests and administrative appeals
  • Communicate with requesters and manage deadlines
  • Conduct document searches across electronic and physical records
  • Apply responsiveness determinations and metadata coding
Document Review & Redaction
  • Perform line-by-line review of records
  • Apply FOIA exemptions (especially Exemptions 5 & 6)
  • Redact documents using tools like Adobe Acrobat
  • Prepare release packages for disclosure
Litigation Support
  • Assist in FOIA-related litigation support
  • Prepare Vaughn indexes and administrative records
  • Support DOJ coordination and document productions
  • Draft supporting materials (declarations, briefs, reports)
Reporting & Tracking
  • Maintain FOIA tracking systems
  • Support quarterly and annual FOIA reporting
  • Ensure accurate documentation and audit readiness
Minimum Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution
  • Active bar license in any U.S. jurisdiction
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Minimum 2+ years of federal FOIA experience
  • Experience with interagency FOIA coordination
  • Strong knowledge of FOIA exemptions and legal standards
  • Experience with eDiscovery platforms (e.g., Nuix Discover)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and document review systems
Highly Preferred
  • Experience supporting the Executive Office of the President (EOP)
  • FOIA litigation support experience
  • Quality control review of FOIA productions
Work Environment & Clearance
  • Work performed primarily on-site in Washington, DC
  • Eligibility for Tier 5 (Top Secret-equivalent) background investigation required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain national security eligibility
