Description

The Augusta GA Health Care System is seeking a qualified and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Emergency Department team. This advanced practice provider will deliver timely, patient-centered care under the supervision of board-certified emergency physicians.

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, experience in high-acuity environments, and a commitment to serving our nation’s Veterans with excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries.
  • Perform minor procedures within the scope of licensure, including laceration repair, splinting, incision and drainage, and wound care.
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians on complex or high-risk cases.
  • Document clinical encounters in the electronic health record (EHR) system in compliance with all policies and regulations.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities, peer review, and compliance initiatives.

 

General Requirements (Both NP and PA):

 

  • Minimum of five (5) years of emergency department experience strongly preferred.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

 

Nurse Practitioner (NP) Requirements:

 

  • Master's degree in nursing from an accredited program.
  • Active and unrestricted NP license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner (emergency medicine specialty preferred).

 

Physician Assistant (PA) Requirements:

 

  • Master’s degree from an accredited PA program.
  • Active and unrestricted PA license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

 

Credentialing & Privileging Requirements

 

  • Licensure, certification, and clinical competencies must be verified through the VetPro system.
  • Completion of a Focused Provider Practice Evaluation (FPPE) at the start of employment.
  • Ongoing Provider Practice Evaluation (OPPE) conducted quarterly.
